Our History
The vision for Guidance to the Future was founded by Patricia Lankford in 2000. I always recognized community. Even as a young person I always served. Our organization is dedicated to my mother Diane Lankford. Her continued community service was installed in me at a young age. She was a community person. She served in many capacities but her LOVE was feeding the people. An if you ever had her LOVE(food) you know that it was pure. As you can see the LOVE of people and service is who we are. Our annual event is my favorite because it's a time of celebration for our youth. My daughters red prom dress sparked this program. So me and my bff put the Mobile event together in a couple of months and traveled to local high schools in the Los Angeles and surrounding counties. We both had full-time jobs but with the help of the team we'd make it happen each week. Long story short here we are almost 24 yrs later still providing and inspiring other to do the same. Today there are better than 100 organizations that put on an event for the students annually. The seed we planted grew like wild fire. It's a beautiful thing to see how much of an impact we had on the community. Each year we've create a memorable event for the students. I hope that 2025 and beyond will bring on new collaborations to make it bigger and more exciting in every way.

Our Mission is to create programs for students that lead them into the leadership roles of the future. Our goal is to work with others to create full comprehensive programs that will meet the needs of our community and the youth.
